The Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum from the American skincare brand Dr Dennis Gross claims to be an anti-wrinkle, firming and brightening serum. Let’s see if it keeps its promise!
I don’t do a lot of eye product reviews here. If I have given the impression that it’s because I don’t believe in them, I do apologize because it’s not the case! I always liked to use a specific product for this area.
I know that it’s a rather common idea in the skincare community: an eye contour product would be pointless, you could just use your face moisturizer and it would work just as well!
Well, in my opinion, yes and no. If your main concern is dehydration, that’s probably the case. But, if like me, you have very specific needs (in my case: fine lines, dark circles and difference in pigmentation), I think it is worth investing in an eye contour product!
And this is especially true if you decide to use an anti-aging product containing one or more ingredients that are very effective but can be irritating for this very sensitive area.
When I started to use retinol more diligently and began to see results on my face, I wanted to use it on my eye contour area as well. But I didn’t want to apply my strong retinoid product to this area where the skin is so thin and sensitive!
So I started looking for a retinol-based product that was effective but suitable for the eye contour area. When I did my research, one name kept coming up: Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum.
So let me introduce you to this serum and give you my detailed opinion!
Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum, my review:
I think it’s the first product from this brand that I’ve tried!
Dr. Dennis Gross really exists, he’s a dermatologist who has a practice on the very chic 5th Avenue in New York City, right across from Central Park. His product range is quite classic in the “medical/derm brand” fashion, with formulas based on proven and effective ingredients (exfoliating acids, hyaluronic acid, retinol…).
The kind of brand I usually like, except for one thing here: the prices. The products are definitely not cheap. And that’s probably why I haven’t tried them sooner.
But that was before. Now I need all the help I can get on my eye contour! Getting older by the minute, my needs in terms of my eye contour have indeed evolved quite a bit over the last few years.
I still have deep dark circles, and I know that no cosmetic will change that, but I also have a distinct difference in pigmentation (my eye contour is not the same colour as the rest of my face) and I’m starting to see more and more fine lines. My upper eyelid is also drooping… In short, it’s time to get serious about my skincare for this!
I’ve already explained it many times here, I never expect miracles from a cosmetic. And I know for a fact, that an eye contour product will have limited results on my eye area. But hey, I’m not going to refuse the possibility of a fresher, smoother eye contour, no matter how minimal!
In the morning, I already use my favorite Drunk Elephant C-Tango, which I love and often repurchased because it helps give me more radiance. So for the evening, I wanted a product that would match it in terms of effectiveness and that would also complement it.
So I chose the Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum because its formula seemed perfect to target my needs!
Judge for yourself:
- some antioxidant ferulic acid,
- some anti-aging retinol,
- an anti-aging peptide, Tetrapeptide-21,
- several antioxidant ingredients: Centella Asiatica, Quercetin (a polyphenol), Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10), green tea…
- some licorice root, with an arbutin derivative for a brightening effect,
- some moisturizing ingredients: low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, glycerin, urea, phospholipids…
- and finally some soothing ingredients: Centella Asiatica, panthenol, willow extract…
This formula leaves nothing to chance!
It works as much for anti-aging prevention with the many anti-oxidants as it does for the treatment of wrinkles and loss of firmness with retinol and the Tetrapeptide-21 peptide.
Add to that the moisturizing and brightening ingredients and you have an eye contour product that ticks all of my boxes!
This is the second bottle of Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum I have used. I apologize in advance for those who thought I was going to save them money with my review of this product… but I really like it!
I love the fact that it’s a serum; I feel like it’s more concentrated and will absorb better than a cream (that’s probably not true, but I still have this idea in my head 😅).
I use it with a moisturizer on top of it because it’s not very nourishing (that’s not the point here, it’s more a treatment than a moisturizer) but it’s still comfortable. It’s just that at night, I like the feeling that I’m adding a bit of “grease” in my routine!
And most of all, I find that it helps to reduce my fine lines! It won’t be a scientific observation with before and after pictures, more like a feeling, but I find that since I’ve been using it, my contour is less wrinkled. I see it especially when I use make-up. My concealer stays in place better and doesn’t crease as much in my fine lines since they are less pronounced than before!
For those who wonder about its irritating aspect because of the retinol it contains: on me, it never caused the slightest irritation. I was able to use it every night right away without any trouble! I guess the concentration is quite minimal (if I had to guess, I would say between 0.1 and 0.3% max).
In short, its only downside is its price. It’s a 15ml bottle and it retails for around $70. Ouch!
Usually, I try to buy it with a discount, so it’s less painful. And a bottle lasts me about 4-5 months by using it once a day. No need to use tons of it. A grain of rice is enough for both eyes.
In short, I know that this is a product that I will continue to repurchase regularly. well, at least, when my finances allow me to!
In conclusion:
As you can see, unfortunately for my wallet, I really like the Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum.
I find its formula impressive and on my skin, it keeps its promises! So yes, it’s not cheap but I think it’s worth its price (well, clearly, it’s way better with a discount, obviously 😜).
The retails between $70 and $85 for 15ml depending on the retailers.
