Face Sunscreen Guide 2024 Part 3 Korean Sunscreens

Face Sunscreen Guide 2024, Part 3: Korean sunscreens

Intro
At a glance

My 2024 face sunscreen guide, part 3: I tell you all about my tests of 15 newly released Korean sunscreen products!

Today, we finally conclude the trilogy of my Face Sunscreen Guide 2024 with my favourites, Korean sunscreen products! This year, I’ve tried 15 of them, and as you’ll see, my selection is very diverse. Mineral sunscreens, chemical sunscreens, hybrid sunscreens, for everyday use, or for use in more intense conditions, I’m sharing all my discoveries with you in this article! 🙂

The first two parts of the 2024 sunscreens guide are also available, the one on European sunscreens and the other on Japanese ones 🙂

For those of you familiar with my content, you’ll already know that I’m particularly fond of Korean sunscreens. Especially for daily use, I find they’re always the most pleasant to apply. Their ultra lightweight textures are very comfortable and generally invisible under makeup.

In South Korea, the daily use of sunscreen is a well-established habit, and this is reflected in the quality of the product formulas. So it’s hardly surprising that Korean sunscreens are my favourite all year round!

And if, like me, you prefer mineral sunscreens, you’re going to love this article. A good part of my selection is dedicated to them! 😍

I particularly like mineral sunscreens for their mattifying effect, among other qualities. Korean mineral sunscreens also tend to have very lightweight textures, and the white cast is generally quite minimal (except for those specifically designated as ‘tone-up’, where the brightening effect is intended. These products are very popular in Korea). They’re also much less drying than traditional mineral sunscreens. That’s why I like to try several of them!

I really like to alternate between mineral and chemical sunscreens depending on the day, because I find that mineral sunscreens are very gentle on my skin, especially when, like me, you use sunscreen every day of the year.

However, I’m also very keen on Korean chemical sunscreens, which are often very hydrating without being heavy or greasy. Furthermore, with Korean products, you can get some really incredible textures that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. For example, mousse sunscreens or gel serums! This year, the textures of the products I tried are more conventional, but feel free to go and dig through the articles from previous years, you’ll discover treasures of unique products! 🙂

A reminder:
If you’re curious about how I choose my sunscreen products, my skin type, preferences and expectations, I suggest you read the section entitled “How I choose my sunscreens (in 2023)” in my first article Face Sunscreen Guide 2024, part 1 (it will help you understand my criteria for choosing so you can compare them to yours). However, I must point out that if you have very dry skin and prefer richer textures, my selection might not be for you. 😉

Don't miss out on new content we publish.
Hey, it could be what helps you find the exact skincare product you were looking for.
We wouldn't want you missing out on that now, would we 🙂

Note:
I already mentioned this last year, but I’ll say it again: Korean sunscreens come out quite late in the year, which is one reason why I’m publishing this article during summer.
And some products I’m talking about are so new that they’re not yet available on the big, well-known Asian eshops like YesStyle or Stylevana.
Personally, I often shop at Olive Young, which is an ultra-popular boutique in Korea and which opened an English-language site a few years ago. Their site delivers internationally, so it can be a practical option for many of you. As for customs duties, delivery times, etc., you’ll have to ask them directly, as these fees will vary depending on the country. For Dubai and the UAE, delivery is fairly quick (10-15 days max), and I have customs charges each time, but they’re not huge.
I also have a promotional code for the Olive Young website, which is BONNIE100 and gives you 5% off your order.
When possible, I’ve linked to several sites to order the products mentioned in this article (YesStyle, Stylevana, Style Korean…), but I must admit that Olive Young is probably the one with the widest choice. But I suppose that’s to be expected, given that they’re based in South Korea. 😉

So this year, I’ve selected 15 Korean sunscreen products to test: 5 minerals, 4 chemicals and 6 hybrids (with both mineral and chemical filters).

I want to warn you, this article will probably be quite long. If you prefer, you can click directly on the product you’re interested in using the “Jump To” menu at the top of the page if you don’t want to read the whole thing! 😉

Face Sunscreen Guide 2024, Part 2: Japanese sunscreens Face Sunscreen Guide 2024, Part 2: Japanese sunscreens I know I’m not the only one who likes them! Today, I’m pleased to share with you my thoughts on Japanese sunscreens, which are a firm favourite with anyone who likes a fresh, melting texture, but still wants a long-lasting sunscreen! It can be particularly hot and humid in Japan, and Japanese sunscreens are formulated to stay on the skin even in these extreme conditions, without compromising on the sensoriality of the textures! Sounds great, don’t you think? 😉 Read more

100% mineral sunscreens:

My favourites at the moment, for summer, because they usually leave a lovely matter finish than the chemical filter-based sunscreens, and they’re very comfortable to wear every day in my experience! And for those with drier skin types, mineral sunscreens can also emphasize the drier areas of the face.

Maybe, but I think it will probably suit drier skin than mine. I really like its melting emulsion texture, though, so I imagine I’ll be happy to use it this winter 😉
The formula is really nice, with all its skincare ingredients, and I find it moisturising and soothing, which is always a good thing. I think it’ll suit sensitive skin really well, by the way.
If you like a more satin finish, you should like this one if you’re a fan of more comfortable mineral sunscreens! The white cast is a bit noticeable, but if you have fair skin, it’ll look OK. Finally, I think it’s a good makeup primer. In short, a good product but probably not my first choice for this season. 🙂

∎ Mattifying?
It has a slightly satiny finish, and I don’t find it particularly mattifying.

∎ Drying?
No, on the contrary, I find it hydrating.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
It’s a good makeup primer, and foundation is easy to apply over it. For a mineral sunscreen, I find that it doesn’t emphasize dry skin areas, and that’s something to be noted!

∎ Would I repurchase?
Why not, I find it enjoyable to use! Its formula is soothing, which I always appreciate, and it’s quite comfortable, even over time (mineral sunscreens can tend to dry out a little over the course of the day, but not this one). If you have sensitive, dehydrated skin, you’ll probably like it!
It’s also a good makeup base. Although it’s not the most mattifying sunscreen in my selection, it doesn’t make me look shiny much more than usual.
I also like the fact that it leaves a rather minimal white cast (on my fair skin, that is!) and it’s very comfortable to wear every day! In short, it’s a great option if you’re a fan of mineral sunscreens. 🙂

∎ Alcohol?
No.

∎ Fragrance?
Yes, a light, fresh and pleasing aromatic scent, which fades fairly quickly.

∎ Antioxidants?
Yes, several! There’s Houttuynia Cordata extract (which is also soothing), green tea, olive oil naturally rich in vitamin E, rosemary essential oil (which also has soothing properties), and Madecassoside (an extract of Centella Asiatica).

∎ Other notable skincare ingredients in the formula:
Soothing Houttuynia Cordata extract, olive oil for comfort, rosemary essential oil and Madecassoside (an extract of Centella Asiatica), which are both soothing and purifying.

∎ White cast?
Really light on me, but my skin is fair. On me, when I massage it in, it disappears and becomes almost transparent. But it’s a mineral sunscreen; on darker skin tones, it might show up more than on my fair skin.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, on the contrary, it’s rather soothing and purifying too, which is always appreciated on my skin, which can be acne prone.

∎ Mattifying?
The finish is rather matte to semi-matte, and it helps to keep my skin matte during the day.

∎ Drying?
No, on the contrary, I find it comfortable.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
It’s a pretty good makeup base, but it can tend to emphasize dry areas of the skin a bit.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Why not! It’s a really nice formula, with lots of soothing, purifying and antioxidant skincare ingredients. It’s ideal for sensitive, acne-prone skin! It’s pleasant to wear, especially in summer as it’s really lightweight on the skin and under makeup. It also helps to mattify the skin, which is always a plus if you tend to look shiny a lot during the day. I don’t think it will suit dry skin types, but for combination to oily skin types, it will be perfect.🙂
Be careful though if you don’t have fair skin, it still leaves a bit of a white cast. On me, it remains minimal and with makeup on top, it’s not noticeable at all.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, on the contrary, it’s rather soothing and purifying, which is always appreciated on my acne prone skin.

∎ Mattifying?
The finish is rather semi-matte. It’s slightly mattifying, but it’s not the most mattifying product I’ve tried.

∎ Drying?
No, on the contrary, I find it comfortable.I really like it! It’s a very complete formula, containing lots of soothing and purifying skincare ingredients, as well as hydrating and antioxidant ones. It’s ideal for sensitive, acne-prone skin, and will also help dehydrated skin. It’s pleasant to wear, and feels really lightweight on the skin and under makeup. It’s not the most mattifying sunscreen in my selection, but it’s far from being too rich – on the contrary! It’s hydrating, and doesn’t emphasize areas of dry skin, which is always a plus, especially for a mineral sunscreen.
Be careful, though, if you don’t have fair skin, it still leaves a little white cast. On me, it’s minimal and with makeup on top, it’s not noticeable at all. Finally, the price is pretty reasonable, which makes it even better! 🙂

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, on the contrary, it’s rather soothing.

∎ Mattifying?
Given the name of the product, I was hoping for a more intense mattifying effect. It does mattify a little, but not that much.

∎ Drying?
No, on the contrary, I find it comfortable.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
I find that it emphasizes the texture of the skin a little, and at the end of the day, this becomes a little more pronounced. It’s a bit thick under makeup.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Probably not. The formula is interesting though, containing soothing, hydrating and anti-ageing skincare ingredients. But already, I was hoping for more of a matte finish. And secondly, it has a whitening cast, which I prefer to point out, so it’s aimed more at very fair skins. On me, the white cast is slightly present, so if your skin is darker than mine, it will probably be even more visible on you.
I also find that it makes the texture of the skin look a little noticeable under makeup. In short, for me, it’s not the best option in this selection! :/

∎ Drying?
No, rather the opposite, it’s hydrating.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
It’s a good makeup base, and the foundation applies perfectly well over it. For combination skin, you’ll probably need to touch up with powder during the day, but to be honest, I don’t find that it makes my skin look more shiny than usual.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Yes, definitely! I really like the formula, which is rich in hydrating and soothing skincare ingredients, and the texture, which is very fresh and pleasant. The brand talks about an immediate refreshing effect on application, and I really appreciate that. It feels great in summer!
The finish is natural and I don’t shine after a few hours, which I particularly appreciate with my combination skin! I think it’s a really nice sunscreen, super fresh and moisturising, without being too heavy. It was released last year and I know it’s very popular, I can see why. 🙂

This new-generation active ingredient (which therefore contains bioflavonoids) will help the skin to regenerate faster. It also has an effect on the complexion’s radiance.

No, it’s transparent.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, I find it quite soothing, on the contrary.

No, rather the opposite, it’s hydrating.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
It’s a good makeup base, and the foundation applies perfectly over it.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Maybe! It’s a little pricey, but that’s down to the formula, which is packed with the brand’s exclusive anti-ageing ingredients; it’s clearly a skincare-based sunscreen! The texture is very pleasant, and it feels more like a moisturiser than a sunscreen. It looks great under makeup, and will certainly suit all skin types. I love the packaging, it’s very cool and it looks great in the bathroom!
In short, it’s a pleasure to use every day, and perhaps the user experience justifies the price. 😉

Why not! The ‘Sunquid’ sunscreens are a new concept from the LG Household & Health Care Ltd group: a sunscreen infused with skincare ingredients and with a moisturising feel that’s as fresh as water. The name ‘Sunquid’ is a contraction of Sunscreen + Liquid. The group offers Sunquid in all its cosmetics brands. The basic formula remains fairly similar, but each brand has its own particularity. In this case, it’s the multivitamins, for added radiance and anti-oxidant protection. The Sunquid packaging is all in the same compact pebble shape (it’s still 50ml). Very pretty, but not very practical to store as they don’t stand upright.
I really like the formula of this one! It’s really nice to use, super fresh and moisturising. It works really well as a makeup base. It contains alcohol, which should be noted if you have sensitive skin, but it didn’t cause any problems for me! It’s not the most mattifying of my selection, but it doesn’t make your skin look shiny any more than usual either. In short, it’s a good sunscreen option to discover, in my opinion. 🙂

Hybrid/ combo formulas (with both mineral and chemical filters):

The “heavy-duty” formulas. I use them when I want to be sure I’m very well protected, and if I know, I’m going to be out in the sun for a bit. With the three products I discuss below, they also have the benefit of all being waterproof, so you can use them for outdoor activities, not just as city sunscreens. Of course, you’ll need to reapply at least every two hours, if you’re sweating a lot or after swimming, for maximum protection.

Water, Dibutyl Adipate, Dipropylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glycerin, Isononyl Isononanoate, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Niacinamide, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sedum Sarmentosum Extract, Anastatica Hierochuntica Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane, Tocopherol, Butylene Glycol, bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Pentylene Glycol, Polysilicone-15, Silica, Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Polyglyceryl-3 Distearate, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Tromethamine, Isododecane, Octyldodecanol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Adenosine, Behenyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491).

∎ Alcohol?
No.

∎ Fragrance?
No.

∎ Antioxidants?
Yes, niacinamide, and vitamin E.

∎ Other notable skincare ingredients in the formula:
Anti-ageing adenosine, hydrating glycerine and squalane for comfort.

∎ White cast?
It’s a tinted sunscreen. It’s a light beige shade, and on me, it’s a little too light. The brand describes it as a sunscreen that can replace foundation, but personally, it doesn’t work on me. It’s too light, it doesn’t give enough coverage and I don’t feel that it has a beautifying effect on the skin either.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, I find it quite soothing, on the contrary.

∎ Mattifying?
The finish is rather satiny, and it doesn’t particularly mattify, on the contrary. Instead, it makes me look more shiny than usual.

∎ Drying?
No, rather the opposite, it’s hydrating.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
I don’t find it amazing under makeup and for good reason, as it’s supposed to replace foundation. So it’s a bit thick and visible under foundation; and it also makes me look shiny so it reduces the staying power of my makeup.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Probably not. It’s a pretty interesting formula, and contains some great skincare ingredients, but the finish is a little too satiny for my personal taste. It doesn’t really replace a foundation on me, the colour is too light and it lacks coverage. So the original ‘foundation-free’ concept doesn’t really work for me.
However, if your skin is drier than mine, and you’re looking for a very fair product that barely covers anything, maybe this could work for you. 😅

Yes, niacinamide, vitamin E and ginseng.

∎ Other notable skincare ingredients in the formula:
It contains a complex of ingredients exclusive to the brand, which help to reduce hyperpigmentation, the ‘UV Daily Multi Protection Complex’. This includes Mulberry Bark, Mulberry Fruit, White Ginseng Polysaccharide, Smoked Mume Fruit, Baikal Skullcap, and Melasolv™.
It also includes hydrating glycerin, as well as anti-ageing niacinamide and adenosine.

∎ White cast?
A slight white cast on my fair skin, but it fades when you massage it in. Under makeup, it doesn’t show at all on me. However, it may be more noticeable if your skin is darker than mine.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, not on me. I actually find it soothing.

∎ Mattifying?
It leaves a natural, skin like finish, and my skin doesn’t look any shinier than usual with it.

∎ Drying?
No, it’s pretty comfortable on me.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
The makeup applies well over it, it’s a good makeup base.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Why not? It’s very pleasant to use, and the formula is packed with skincare ingredients to give the complexion a glow. It works well under makeup too. It’s waterproof, so it’s suitable for outdoor activities or swimming. Strangely, it doesn’t provide as much UVA protection as the other sunscreens in this selection (PA+++) but it does have the advantage of being resistant and long-lasting on the skin. I love the elegant, minimalist packaging, which is always a pleasure to have in the bathroom. It’s a high-end option, sure, but Sulwhasoo is a Korean luxury brand, so that makes sense.🙂

∎ White cast?
Not my skin.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, not on me. I actually find it soothing.

∎ Mattifying?
It leaves a slightly satiny finish, and tends to make my skin look a little shiny during the day, but nothing dramatic.

∎ Drying?
No, it’s pretty comfortable on me.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
The makeup applies quite well over it, it’s a good makeup primer. I really need to use powder with my combination skin though!

∎ Would I repurchase?
I don’t see why not! I discovered this sunscreen last winter thanks to Odile Monod. It’s a high-end sunscreen, and you can feel it in the user experience – it’s a really pleasant product to use. It will probably suit skin a little drier than mine, but I imagine this winter I’ll be happy to find it. 🙂
The formula is packed with skincare ingredients, and on me it absorbs really well and doesn’t leave a white cast. It works well as a makeup base, you just need to add a little powder if you have combination skin, as it’s not particularly mattifying! It’s a bit expensive, but given the brand, I was expecting that kind of price. In short, it’s a good option for those who want a sunscreen that’s a little more sophisticated than the average! 😉

∎ Drying?
No, it’s pretty comfortable and hydrating on my skin.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
It’s a great makeup base. Makeup goes on perfectly over it and it even helps my foundation last longer.

∎ Would I repurchase?
Certainly! This sunscreen product has been a best-seller for years in Korea. I’ve been repurchasing it every time it’s been reformulated for several years now. It’s a sunscreen that’s recommended after dermatological procedures, or for sensitive skin. It therefore provides excellent protection (it has both chemical AND mineral filters), as well as repairing the skin thanks to the skincare ingredients it contains. Contrary to what you might think with this type of product, its texture and finish are very elegant. It’s not a white, pasty product! On me, it absorbs very well and doesn’t leave a white effect (but on darker skin than mine, it may show a little more). And it has a semi-matte finish, so I can use it all year round, even in the summer when it’s hot and humid! In short, for me, it’s become one of my favourite Korean sunscreens, and I’ll probably keep repurchasing it! 🙂

Finally, the formula also contains niacinamide, which (among other things) also plays a role in brightening the complexion.

∎ Other notable skincare ingredients in the formula:

∎ White cast?
It’s tinted light purple for a radiant effect on fair skin. On my pale skin, it leaves a slight white cast, but it fades when I massage it in. Under makeup, it doesn’t show on me any more. On the other hand, it will certainly be more noticeable if your skin is darker than mine.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
No, not on me.

∎ Mattifying?
Yes, it leaves a rather natural matte finish, and it helps to mattify my skin throughout the day.

∎ Drying?
No, it’s pretty comfortable on me.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
Makeup goes on well over it, it’s a good makeup base. I also really like its natural blurring effect, which helps to smooth the texture of the skin.

∎ Would I repurchase?
I already have, I love it! I love its natural mattifying effect, its beautifying effect on the skin; it’s super comfortable to wear because it’s so lightweight on the skin. I even like its porcelain-skin glow on my fair skin.
It’s great in summer, and a great makeup base. It’s got a really good formula with lots of skincare ingredients; my skin really likes it!
This product was created in collaboration with a famous Korean influencer, Arang, so it was designed with a Korean audience in mind, and it shows! It’s definitely not universal for all skin colours. It’s typically a product aimed at fair skins. It has a whitening effect that will be visible on many skins, unfortunately.

Water, Homosalate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Allium Cepa (Onion) Bulb Extract, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Octocrylene, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Acrylates Copolymer, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, C20-22 Alkyl Phosphate, C20-22 Alcohols, 1,2-hexanediol, Glycerin, Caprylyl Methicone, Pentylene Glycol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cetyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Glyceryl Stearate, Silica, Tromethamine, Poly C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate, Titanium Dioxide, Coco-caprylate/caprate, Dimethicone/vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethiconol, Trisiloxane, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Sodium Acrylate/sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyisobutene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Kaolin, Adenosine, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Alumina, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Sorbitan Oleate, Caprylyl/capryl Glucoside, Allantoin, Tocopherol, Panthenol, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride, Polyglyceryl-10 Diisostearate, Glycoproteins, Menadione, Ultramarines (CI 77007).

∎ Alcohol?
No.

∎ Fragrance?
No, but it does have a very lingering old-school sunscreen scent.

∎ Antioxidants?
Yes, vitamin E, niacinamide and Houttuynia Cordata extract.

∎ Other notable skincare ingredients in the formula:
Hydrating glycerine, soothing panthenol and allantoin.

∎ White cast?
It’s light purple tinted but the pigmentation is very light, it just gives a glow to fair skin. On my skin, it barely shows. However, it may be more noticeable if your skin is darker than mine.

∎ Irritating? Comedogenic?
It stings my eyes and it’s quite unpleasant.

∎ Mattifying?
It has a slightly satiny finish, it doesn’t make my skin look shiny any more than usual, but it doesn’t mattify either.

∎ Drying?
No, it’s pretty comfortable on me.

∎ How does it look with makeup?
The makeup applies quite well over it, it’s a good makeup base.

∎ Would I repurchase?
No. I included it in this article because Isntree is a Korean brand, but this sunscreen was designed for the American market, which doesn’t have the same legislation on sunscreens as the rest of the world. In the US, they don’t have access to the latest UV filters (when I say latest, I mean from this century lol) and have to formulate with older UV filters, which frankly aren’t the most pleasant to use. Of course, they protect properly, and that’s the most important thing, but I must admit that if I can use more pleasant sunscreen formulas with more modern UV filters, I prefer to just do that! (That’s why I never review North American sunscreens, because I just don’t use them).
In short, this sunscreen stings my eyes, I think it smells like old-school sunscreen and, unsurprisingly, I don’t like it. Frankly, if the idea of a light mauve tinted sunscreen appeals to you, the one from Dr.G above is much better IMO!😉

In conclusion:

I’m going to do my best to give you the best of these 15 Korean sunscreens. It’s not an easy choice, because aside from a couple of exceptions, I basically like them all! 😉

When it comes to mineral sunscreens, I think my favourite this year is the Bringgreen Tea Tree Cica Fresh Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ which is comfortable and ideal for sensitive skin! It’s also great to use because it’s so lightweight you can barely feel it when you’re wearing it.

Among chemical sunscreens, I particularly like the Numbuzin Clear Filter Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++ . It’s fluid, moisturising, fresh and I completely understand the hype!

As for the hybrid sunscreens, I have two big winners, which are probably my two favourites from this selection:

– the Cell Fusion C Laser UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ , which is still one of my staples this year,

– and the Dr.G Pore Blur Up Sun SPF50+ PA++++ . It’s super lightweight, mattifying and has a blurring effect that I particularly enjoy!

An honourable mention for the Sulwhasoo UV Daily Fluid Sunscreen Multi-Protection SPF50+ PA+++ , which is a bit expensive, but such a pleasant experience when I use it! And it’s very resistant, which is always a plus!

That’s a wrap for this year’s sunscreen selection for 2024! I hope these guides will help you to find what you’re looking for and motivate you to use sunscreen all year round. With such a wide choice and such great formulas, you’ve got no excuse! 😉

Please do tell me about your experience if you try any of these, or let me know which ones sound interesting to you! You can always drop me a comment. It’s always appreciated! 🙂

  1. Thanks for the great review, Bonnie! I’ve been looking forward to this. I’m going to try a few of your recommendations. Your blog is how I found my favorite summer sunscreens – Biore watery essence and the Isntree sun cream. Thanks!!

  2. Thanks for the reviews. Questions, are all these sunscressn water resistant? Especially the mineral based ones. thanks.

  3. Thank you for putting these guides together. I look forward to them every year! It’d be really great if you could include malassezia/fungal-acne safe options, or call out silicones in formulas. Thank you again!!

    • Thank you for your kind words and feedback! I’m glad you find the sunscreen guides helpful. ☺️

Regarding your suggestions, I’d like to clarify a couple of points:

‘Fungal acne’ or malassezia folliculitis is often misdiagnosed, and there’s no scientific evidence supporting the idea of ‘fungal acne safe’ products. This concept is not recognized by dermatologists. If you’re concerned about persistent acne-like bumps, it’s best to consult a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

As for silicones, they are generally considered safe and non-comedogenic (don’t clog pores) for most people, including those with acne-prone skin.

I understand your concern. I know skincare can be complex, and there’s a lot of misinformation out there. I always tend to provide evidence-based information in my guides. ☺️

Thank you again for your support! 🥰🥰🥰
