My 4-year journey with the ZIIP anti-ageing device: the evolution of the device, my experience and my results over time.
Time really flies so fast! I recently realized that it’s been over 4 years since I started using my ZIIP toning anti-aging device, and I’ve been sticking to it at least 3 times a week. So I thought it would be nice to give you a little update after all these years to talk about my long-term experience with the device, my tips for staying motivated to use it, and most importantly, the results I’ve seen on my skin over time!

At 45+, I’m well aware that cosmetic products have their limits, especially when it comes to loss of firmness, despite what ads might sometimes suggest. Anti-aging serums and creams are certainly excellent for maintaining a nice skin texture and helping to slow down the aging process. But when faced with sagging that’s starting or already present, you need a solution that works at a deeper level to regain elasticity.
This is where a device like the ZIIP can help to enhance a well-established treatment routine. Thanks to its technology combining microcurrent and nanocurrent, this device targets the deeper layers of the epidermis and even influences facial muscles, thus improving skin tonicity (skin better supported by underlying muscles naturally appears firmer). This is a result that a simple cosmetic product, limited to superficial action, just can’t match.
With ZIIP, my main goal is to maintain the firmness of my skin and target areas where sagging is starting to show (in my case, slightly around the face contour, and especially the upper eyelid area, which is slowly starting to droop).
Of course, I try to be realistic. I’m aware that results necessarily have limits. If you’re hoping for a “surgical facelift” effect with this kind of device, I can tell you right away: you’re likely to be disappointed!
However, for prevention and to help the skin improve and maintain its tonicity for longer, a toning device like ZIIP is a significant asset!
I started introducing devices with this microcurrent technology over 5 years ago, and I’ve been using ZIIP regularly in my routine for 4 years now.
Let me tell you about it in more detail!
Please note:
Last year, I did a very detailed review of the ZIIP Halo, with my thoughts, the directions for use, the details of the different treatments, gels etc. I won’t go back into detail in today’s article, which is more a follow-up to my long-term experience with the ZIIP. 🙂
My journey with the ZIIP device:
My first encounter with the ZIIP device (4 years ago):
In 2020, probably driven by lockdown boredom, I felt like upgrading my microcurrent massage game and bought the ZIIP OX. At the time, I wasn’t a novice in this field as I was already using the NuFace device. But I was still curious about Beauty Tech and anti-aging technologies, and ZIIP clearly started to make a lot of noise in the skincare community at the time! I also noticed that the people who appreciated it were quite knowledgeable in this field, which had clearly piqued my interest even more! ZIIP’s brand approach also intrigued me, with its promise of a non-surgical facelift effect. I was of course realistic about the expected results, but still, I wanted to test it for myself! 😉
My first impressions and initial results:
My first impressions were rather positive. As I mentioned in my initial review of the ZIIP OX, the results were subtle but still noticeable. From the beginning of my use, I had noticed a real difference in the radiance of my complexion, and in the longer term, good maintenance of my skin’s tonicity, particularly in certain areas of my face. I quickly understood that this device wouldn’t replace my usual skincare routine, but would effectively complement it, especially on the anti-aging aspect.
I especially appreciate this preventive approach, which perfectly matches my skincare philosophy: it’s always easier to preserve the youthfulness and tonicity of your skin than to try to “repair” it later.
So I quickly integrated the use of ZIIP into my routine, using it between 3 to 6 times a week, with sessions varying from 4 to 12 minutes. It’s become a real habit, which I’ve managed to maintain until now.
The evolution of the ZIIP device design:
Over the years, the design of ZIIP has evolved in response to user feedback. The transition from ZIIP GX and OX to the new ZIIP Halo (launched last year) clearly shows this evolution.
In a few key points, here’s a summary of the main differences between ZIIP Halo and the older OX and GX versions:
- Size and weight: ZIIP Halo is more compact and lighter than its predecessors, making it more manageable.
- Visual indicators: A light strip has been added to the Halo to clearly indicate when the device is in operation.
- During use: The beeps are louder and the vibrations more intense, improving the user experience.
- Ergonomics: The on/off button has been moved under the device to avoid accidentally turning it off during use.
- Independence: ZIIP Halo is less dependent to the app, offering a pre-programmed Lift treatment directly accessible as soon as the device is turned on.
- Increased ease of use: The more ergonomic design and clearer indicators make daily use more pleasant and intuitive.
- Accessibility: The price drop of ZIIP Halo and the introduction of a new, cheaper conductive gel (Electric Complex Gel) have made this technology more accessible.
Frankly, now that I have a bit more perspective on my use of the device, I have to admit that I’ve been quite impressed by the impact of these changes on my daily experience with ZIIP Halo. The new design is really practical. When I use it, I almost feel like I’m juggling with the device without even thinking about it!
What I particularly appreciate is that I can now use it without necessarily needing my phone. On mornings when I’m in a hurry, it’s really a plus. I’m sure it helps a lot of users to be more consistent! And between us, that’s really the key to seeing results. A device works better if you use it, it’s scientifically proven! 😉
And with the price drop of the device and the new cheaper gel, it’s become a slightly more affordable luxury too.
Now, I do want to point out that the older ZIIP OX and GX devices are still excellent. They still offer many treatment options via the app and are compatible with the new cheaper conductive gel. So if you had already invested a few years ago, you’re already very well equipped! 🙂
Why I’m still using my ZIIP device after 4 years:
After 4 years, I’m still as much of a fan of my ZIIP device! And it’s not just a matter of routine or habit, believe me. There are real reasons that motivate me to continue.
So let’s talk about the long-term benefits of ZIIP that I’ve been able to notice over time!
First of all, I love the immediate effect I get with my ZIIP. It’s my little morning boost! I usually use it after my morning workout, and it wakes up my skin like nothing else. Between 4 and 10 minutes depending on my schedule, and voilà, my face is luminous and radiant for the day. (I even made a Reel about it on my Instagram account!)
I’m a true early bird (yes, yes, these people exist, I swear! 😆), so reserving this beauty moment in the morning doesn’t bother me at all. I much prefer getting up at dawn to take care of myself rather than sprinting 10 minutes before leaving for work. To each their own, right! 😉
In the long term, I’ve really seen a difference in the texture of my skin. It stays plumpy, nicely bouncy and toned. At 45, I think that’s not bad at all!
Regarding the areas of the face where I’ve really seen a difference, if I had to mention just one, it would clearly be my eye contour. My upper eyelids are holding up much better than expected and are sagging less than I feared (it will come,I know that, but if I can delay the inevitable, I’ll take it!). When I put on makeup, especially when I apply my smudged liner pencil cat eye, I really see the difference. I can still do it without it transferring to my upper eyelid. Hopefully it’ll stay that way as long as possible! 😉
And then there’s the oval of the face. Well, for now, my face keeps rather well-defined contours and isn’t sagging too much yet. I’m not saying it’s solely thanks to ZIIP, but I’m sure it has a lot to do with it.
I have a few before-and-after photos to show you, but I could only find before photos from 2019, before I started using the micro-current technology. As you can see, after 5 years, my skin is holding up very well, even though I’ve obviously aged:
To be honest, regarding wrinkles, I can’t really say if ZIIP helps or not. My combination and rather thick skin, combined with my strict daily sun protection, means I don’t have too many wrinkles yet. But hey, better safe than sorry, right? 😉
I’ve tested quite a few other anti-ageing devices (and I’ve done lots of reviews!), but I always come back to ZIIP. Why? First, I love its professional aspect. It offers lots of different personalized massages depending on the areas you want to treat, it’s like having a mini-beauty salon (or a mini-beautician?) at home!
But what I particularly appreciate is that most of the programs are relatively short. When I think of some other devices that took me at least 30 minutes… With ZIIP, it’s effective and quick. What more could you ask for! 🙂
In the end, ZIIP has become my little beauty ally (pun intended!) . It has slipped into my morning routine as naturally as my tea (well, almost!). And the results are there, subtle but reels. So yes, after 4 years, I can say it’s an investment I absolutely don’t regret!
My daily routine with ZIIP:
When I started using ZIIP, I was well aware that it wasn’t a quick fix, but rather the beginning of a new long-term habit. ZIIP is a real complement to my routine, it works more deeply, which will potentially allow me to postpone resorting to certain procedures like Botox or hyaluronic acid injections. For now, I don’t feel any “need” for them.
Personally, I’ve already mentioned it, I’ve integrated ZIIP into my morning routine. I’m an early riser and I like to take care of myself from the start of the day. For me, it’s like sport: it’s in the morning or nothing! In the evening, I’m just waiting to go to bed, I have 0 motivation! 😅
The bonus of using it when I wake up, is that I particularly appreciate its effectiveness in awakening the radiance of the complexion. It’s really a good boost to start the day on the right foot/complexion!
My main advice would be to find the time that suits you best to use ZIIP. Whether it’s in the morning like me, or in the evening if you prefer, the important thing is to choose a time when you think you’ll be most regular.
Because the key to effectiveness is really consistency. ZIIP is clearly a long-term investment. It’s not a gadget that you use from time to time, but really a tool that fits into a complete and above all durable skincare routine!
Try to stick to it for at least a few weeks to make it a real habit! At first, it may seem like a chore, but with time, it becomes as natural as brushing your teeth.
Now, I know it’s not easy to adopt a new gesture and stick to it. That’s why I’ve thought of a few tips to help you! 🙂
Some tips for integrating ZIIP into your routine… and making it a good habit!
First, why not set yourself a little beauty challenge? Something like: “I want my skin to be radiant for my birthday in a month”. It gives a fun side and a concrete goal to achieve!
And if your memory plays tricks on you (we all have days where we feel off!), feel free to set an alarm on your phone. I don’t need it anymore for ZIIP but I have several alarms that help me keep certain habits every day, and it really helps!
And why not add a little reward to all this? After two weeks of consistent use, why not treat yourself to that skincare product you’ve been eyeing? Or that nice restaurant you’ve been craving for ages? Or that pretty dress? If you don’t want to spend too much money, it can be a nice walk, or a nice movie you wanted to see, it works too! 🙂
Find a ZIIP buddy: if you have a friend who’s also a fan of skincare, you can embark on the adventure together! There’s nothing like a bit of emulation to stay motivated. You could even send each other “post-ZIIP” selfies to encourage each other!
For the creative people among you, why not create a pretty tracking board? It’s great for seeing your progress and it works to stay motivated to continue your sessions!
Don’t forget that skin changes with the seasons. In winter, we focus on soothing with a gentle massage like the Founder’s Favorite for example, and in summer, the Instant Gratification is great for radiance for example. Adapt your ZIIP programs accordingly, it’s also an opportunity to rediscover your device and not always do the same treatments!
You can also vary the programs to suit your state of mind and/or the time of day: massages such as Lift, for example, or Plump or De-Puff are energizing, and therefore ideal in the morning. The Founder’s Favorite, which uses only nano-currents, is great for relaxing, so perfect for the evening.
And for those who are always running after time, know that you can totally do your ZIIP session while reading your emails or watching the news of the day. We’re multitaskers or we’re not! 😉
Last little tip: prepare your ZIIP and your gel the night before. That way, in the morning, everything is ready and you have no excuse to skip your session.
The essential thing is really to find what suits you. Whether it’s in the morning while drinking your coffee or in the evening in front of your favorite show, the important thing is that it becomes a moment you look forward to! 🙂
Personally, to make this time even more enjoyable, I’ve set up a special ambiance around my ZIIP sessions. Sometimes, I listen to music or a podcast. Other times, I watch a YouTube video or I settle in front of a show.
The idea is to transform these few minutes into a true moment for yourself. It allows you to relax and do the treatment almost without thinking about it. And above all, it makes the experience more pleasant, which helps maintain motivation in the long term.
In the end, ZIIP has become an essential part of my beauty routine. It’s not just another device, but really a key element of my approach to skincare. Over time, I’ve realized that these few daily minutes make a real difference in the long term!
How to stay motivated to use your ZIIP device over time?
After several years of using ZIIP, I’ve really learned to appreciate its subtle but real effects. It helps maintain the tonicity of my skin, improves its radiance and texture. I certainly don’t expect a miraculous change similar to a surgical facelift, but I’ve still noticed that my skin is holding up well despite the passage of time. And it’s super satisfying to see these little changes over time!
To stay motivated, I know some people love to keep a sort of beauty journal and take photos regularly to appreciate the progress made. It’s great if it encourages you to use your device more often! Personally, I only do it for my articles. What really matters to me is the feeling of taking care of my skin and feeling good about my age. I prefer to avoid focusing too much on every detail of my appearance. Because the important thing is to feel good, right? 😉
One of the great advantages of ZIIP compared to other competing devices is the wide choice of its treatments. With 12 different options and even pre-established programs over several weeks, which combine different treatments, we can totally adapt its use according to your needs and make a personalized plan if needed! It’s super practical to avoid monotony and target specific issues, like for example before an important event.
I’ve totally integrated ZIIP into my daily skincare routine. Each product has its place and role, including ZIIP. I know it will take that much time that specific day to do that specific massage, and I keep this moment just for me. I plan the necessary time in my schedule, knowing that some days are busier than others. On busy days, a short 4-minute program is enough. The secret for me is to find a time when it doesn’t bother too much. Personally, it’s my little morning ritual, but in the evening before going to bed, it can also be very relaxing!
Because time is precious, I know! But the advantage of ZIIP Halo is that the treatment preloaded in the device, the Lift, only takes 4 little minutes and you don’t even need the app. For maintenance, it’s 3 times a week. More frequent use is recommended the first month to optimize results, but then, you can space out the sessions. The longest (and most complete, the All Inclusive) massage takes 12 minutes, and that’s the one I usually do on weekends.
Even when traveling, my ZIIP follows me everywhere! It’s super compact. I love keeping my little routine when I’m on the go. But if you’re going away for a few days and prefer to take a break from your treatment, the results won’t disappear immediately, I assure you. The important thing is to find a balance that suits you.
To optimize the cost of gels, I alternate between the latest one, the Electric Complex Gel, which is cheaper, and the Silver Gel which I prefer because it’s hydrating and soothing. I feel like I’m massaging with a soothing face mask. A bottle lasts me about 3-4 months, with 4 to 6 pumps per use. It’s an investment, but one that remains reasonable in the long term. I always wait for promotions to stock up.
By the way, great news: with my code BTYGEL, you have -25% on ZIIP gels until the end of November! 😀
My verdict after 4 years:
In the beauty world, it’s always a race for innovation. But ZIIP has more than one trick up its sleeve! Last year, the brand redesigned it, while keeping its proven micro and nano-current technology, which it’s the only one to use, by the way. Basically, it’s still the same great device, but in the 2.0 version! 😉
What’s great is that the brand ZIIP didn’t give in to the temptation to change everything just to make something new. They kept what worked well and upgraded the rest. It’s rather reassuring, isn’t it? While some brands are constantly releasing new products, ZIIP remains faithful to its winning formula.
Of course, there will always be new beauty gadgets making beautiful promises. But after 4 years of use, I can tell you that ZIIP is a bit like that good old pair of jeans that still fits you so well: reliable, comfortable, and that doesn’t let you down. Its evolution is proof that it’s improving without losing its soul. In a market where everything changes at record speed, it’s quite comforting to see a brand that knows how to stay true to itself while adapting to its users’ feedback.
Let’s talk money! Is ZIIP worth the investment in the long run?
Let’s not kid ourselves, ZIIP isn’t cheap. But when I think about the alternatives, I tell myself that my wallet is doing pretty well. Take Botox or hyaluronic acid injections for example. At 45, I don’t feel the need for them yet, but I know it’s an option that many consider at my age.
When I compare the costs, that’s where it gets interesting. These procedures need to be renewed regularly, and it can quickly add up. ZIIP, on the other hand, is an initial investment, sure, but it becomes cost-effective over several years. And for the gels, even if they have a high price, remain less expensive than an injection.
Let’s be real, I’m not saying that ZIIP replaces these treatments, that would be comparing apples and pears! But for me, it’s an alternative that allows me to take care of my skin regularly, without resorting to more invasive methods for the moment.
It’s a bit like choosing between buying a nice coffee machine or going to the nearest café every day. In the long run, making your coffee at home is cheaper, even if the coffee machine costs a bit at the start. ZIIP is a bit like that: an initial investment, but one that can potentially postpone or reduce the need for other more expensive treatments, so it pays off in the long run!
Of course, everyone has their own priorities and budget. But for me, ZIIP finds its place in my beauty routine, while giving me results that I appreciate on a daily basis. I’m definitely happy with it!
Who would ZIIP be a good investment for?
I’d say ZIIP is the perfect ally for those who are starting to see the first signs of aging and want to nip them in the bud. It’s also great for beauty addicts who love taking care of themselves and exploring new technologies. And it’s really great for those who, like me, prefer a gentle and progressive approach rather than more radical solutions.
Basically, if you’re the patient type and you like the idea of a high-tech beauty ritual, you’re going to love it! 🙂
In conclusion:
In this fast-paced world, where beauty trends change so quickly, ZIIP has managed to make a lasting place for itself in my bathroom. It’s become my little ritual. So yes, it’s not magic, it’s not instant, but it’s reliable and effective in the long term. And for me, that’s the best way to take care of your skin!
In the end, whether you’re tempted by ZIIP or not, I think the most important thing is to find what makes you feel good in your own skin. For me, this little device reminds me every day that taking care of yourself is a marathon, not a sprint. And you know what? I can’t wait to see where I’ll be in 4 more years! 😆
